About Me

Hi! My name is Carolyn Ogan.

I am the sole proprietor of Wicked Good Webs and, as such, work one-on-one with my clients to provide a personal touch that large website development firms cannot deliver. Carolyn I employ state-of-the-art Microsoft .NET and Adobe Photoshop technologies and am constantly working to improve my skills and discover the latest developments so you can have the best possible experience with your website and its performance.

I am self-taught with respect to Microsoft .NET and Adobe technologies, but I do have a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Math from Wichita State University (I graduated Summa cum Laude in May of 2002). In addition, I am currently studying to become a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist. My education in computer science and programming enables me to offer my clients something that many webmasters cannot - programmed web pages with dynamic content, i.e. pages that are generated by a website just as the user views it. As a result, I can provide such features as content management, online shopping, Javascript features, and more!

I became interested in computer programming while working as a Contract Negotiator for the Federal Government, a career which lasted 20 years and took me from Washington, D.C. to Fort Worth, Texas (my home town). Writing small computer programs made the repetitive, rudimentary tasks associated with contractor proposal evaluation a snap – thus, freeing up my time for more important, “big picture” concerns. In other words, I was hooked!

During my years with the Government, I wrote, negotiated, and administered numerous contracts, gaining experience in such areas as technical writing, business law, cost accounting, cost analyzing, debating, and public speaking. Much of this experience serves me well when it comes to website design, programming, overall organization, and business-to-business communication. Technical writing translates well to website copy writing, for example.   And the good listening skills I developed while negotiating result in websites that truly reflect the desires and needs of my clients.

It should be noted, that I also have had a bit of formal art training ( I first attended college as a fine arts major). Knowing the basics of design and art appreciation is certainly helpful in creating well-organized and visually pleasing web pages. I love tapping into my creative side once again!

In fact, while I’ve loved all my jobs, I really love what I’m doing now. It’s fun and rewarding! I hope my enthusiasm is infectious, and that the experience of website development will be fun and rewarding (as well as profitable) for all my clients too!
